WBF announces the success of its European Conference held recently at the Elewijt Center in Mechelen, Belgium.

A record number of attendees heard from industry experts and keynote speakers Martin Zeller and Dennis Brandl, from 13-15 November.

More than 150 industry professionals from 17 different countries participated in this bi-annual event sponsored by WBF and the Automation Federation.

The WBF European Conference presented attendees with unmatched technical papers, in-depth presentations, tutorials, descriptive forums, attendee networking, and knowledge sharing.

WBF is an association of end-users, vendors, consultants, and academics with a strict, non-commercial agenda.

With about 45% of the conference attendees being end-users and another 30% being academia and other organizations, Zeller delivered a detailed evaluation of batch data analysis.

The Brandl presentation gave an information model framework for manufacturing science.

The agenda also included the exchange of information related to management, operation, and automation of batch process manufacturing.

In addition, tutorial sessions on ISA-88 and ISA-95 both delivered valuable information to more than 50 attendees each.

"Dow Team members from Europe participating in this conference emailed me each night telling me of the great value they received from this conference," said Bill Stewart of Dow Chemical Company and also Programme Chair for the WBF 2007 North American Conference: "The bar is being continually raised at our conferences which make planning these events so challenging and exciting!".

The next conference for WBF is the 2007 North American Conference scheduled for April 30 through May 4, 2007 at the Tremont Plaza Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.

The theme of the conference, "Mining for Gold - Discovering the value of standardised process automation" emphasizes automation processes, tools, and applications being implemented in manufacturing today and in the future.

The conference will showcase leading professionals of the automation industry, addressing manufacturing systems, batch, continuous, discrete, and hybrid process control, production planning, lean manufacturing, asset utilisation and standards implementations that enable you to keep your operation competitive.

A few subject areas for papers and case studies include ISA-88 applications from technical and business perspectives, implementing a standards-based approach in your company, batch models and advantages, and new and emerging technologies.

Keynote speakers, panels, and discussion forums will provide focus on implementation of industry standards including ISA-88, ISA-95, B2MML, and Make2Pack.

WBF collaborative activities with the Automation Federation, ISA, OMAC, and MESA will also be highlighted.
