The 2008 WBF conference will be held in Philadelphia from 24-27 March: the preliminary programme provides details about the keynote speakers, special events, presentation titles and summaries

The conference will feature presentations, tutorials, and special events focused on the 2008 theme of "Shaping the Future of Manufacturing" Key presentations include:

* Independence day for equipment modules: case study of how a flexible batch application can save costs.

* The challenge of integrating multiple batch systems to global business systems.

* Becoming green: the next level of manufacturing optimisation.

* Should operators speak ISA95?.

* Seven steps in creating a highly effective alarm management system.

* What's above a master recipe-area work definitions?.

* The ISA88 area model: More than just a pretty face.

* Batch Management Modernisation: Case study of upgrading and adding ISA88 features to a legacy system at Lanxes.

* Three principles for reducing the time it takes to implement software systems.

* Traveling with ISA88: Leveraging the ISA88 standard in a complex assembly.

Process tutorials will also be held at the conference.

Each tutorial is 2 hours long and is taught by a recognized industry expert.

Tutorial topic choices include "ISA88 Batch Control," "The New ISA95 Standards," "The New ISA88 Part 5 Standard," and "B2MML Vol.4-Business to Manufacturing Integration".

The conference will feature several networking opportunities and special events for attendees.

Additional events include the Sponsor Showcase and Dinner Reception, the Keynote Social Dinner, and the WBF Board of Directors Meeting.

Presentations, tutorials, and papers for the WBF 2008 North American Conference will focus on automation standards for process and factory operations.

Attendees will hear from industry professionals and learn how the standards they work with each day have positively impacted automation and manufacturing.

The conference will highlight best practices, lessons learned, and those technologies that are critical to the reliability and automation of batch and continuous manufacturing processes.
