At MAINTEC 2008 Whitelegg Machines will be discussing motor efficiency and the energy savings that can result from condition monitoring, with the help of Tim Thomas, from Baker Instrument of USA

With the growing awareness of the importance of condition monitoring and specially that of electric motors, Whitelegg Machines have again invited Tim Thomas, Senior Engineer of Baker Instrument Company, USA, to join them at Maintec 2008 Now acquired by the Swedish SKF group, Baker Instrument is strongly positioned to further develop its unique range of condition monitoring equipment and supporting software, and Tim Thomas will be able to bring his wide expertise to focus on visitor queries on the stand

In advance, intending visitors are invited to email with any specific requests for information which can be personally responded to at the show.

New for 2008 will be the new Baker power quality testing software, which will be a specific software package designed to monitor single and three phase systems, and look at harmonic distortion, total distortion, voltage unbalance, voltage level, plus harmonics up to the 100th order.

Visitors will be able to experience for themselves the Baker Explorer motor performance tester offering non-intrusive monitoring of electric motors via their power cables.

Ideal for the monitoring of all sizes of LV and HV electric motors and in particular large underwater pumps, rolling mill machinery where routine inspection access is difficult or impossible, the Explorer offers the solution to catastrophic failure and expensive downtime.

The Explorer can look at a wide range of variables within the motor performance profile and uniquely, torque analysis, which can deliver a very clear mechanical indication of motor and load condition.

This on-line motor analyser was developed to conduct complete predictive monitoring routines and offers 'root-cause' analysis through the separation of mechanical and electrical issues.

The instrument can thus pinpoint voltage source, variable frequency drive (VFD) and the motor or load challenges that face rotating machinery.

This now enables the maintenance engineer to select and examine power conditions, motor performance, motor condition, current signature, torque signature, broken rotor bars and the activities of VFD applications.

Whitelegg Machines and Tim Thomas of Baker Instrument will be at Maintec 2008 on Stand C26.
