West Pharmaceutical Services, a premier manufacturer of packaging components and systems for injectable drug delivery, has invested in a fully optimised manufacturing execution system.

Werum Software and Systems announces that West Pharmaceutical Services, will purchase and implement the PAS-X MES solutions for their North American plants.

West Pharmaceutical Services is planning to roll out the solution to a total of five manufacturing sites in the US.

Werum is supplying consulting for Functional Requirement Specification, manufacturing execution system (MES) implementation, system validation, and long-term maintenance.

Werum will provide the following (MES) solutions: MBR (Master Batch Recording), EBR (Electronic Batch Recording), LINE (Line Control and Optimization), WD (Weighing and Dispensing), MT (Material Tracking), WMS (Warehouse Management), DM (Deviation Management), as well as Performance Analysis based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

PAS-X MES will enable full vertical integration from ERP down to the shop floor level.

The production equipment will be integrated via OPC-based SCADA and PLC interfaces.

This decision in favour of the Werum PAS-X suite is part of multiple company initiatives to achieve quality and value standards consistent with, or exceeding, their customers' operations.

Comprehensive material flow control, tracking of production progress as well as full product traceability will optimise and enhance existing validation and quality programmes.
