RS485 products now handle high voltages
Enhanced repeater/isolators and converters are launched for RS485 applications: a bus technique that is the basis for most of the industrial communications systems installed over the last 20 years
The MDW-45 can link equipment with RS422 or RS485 serial outputs to any device having an RS232 serial port.
Sold at a competitive GBP125 it can handle multi-drop and point-to-point applications, offering a flexible solution to one of the most common communications challenges faced in industry.
As with all Westermo converters, a key advantage of the MDW-45 is total galvanic isolation between inputs and outputs, which assures data integrity in a range of difficult operating conditions, particularly where high levels of RFI/EMC interference can be expected.
It also features up to IP21 protection and an extended working temperature range of -40 to +70, meeting reliability demands for tough industrial environments.
The MDW-45 is used to interconnect devices like PCs, PLCs, drives and other automation equipment.
It enables up to 32 485/422 devices in bus-oriented applications to be connected either by 2- or 4-wires over a distance of up to 1200m.
Greater transmission ranges or additional connected devices on the bus are possible using one or more repeaters.
The maximum transmission rate is 115.2 kbit/s.
In 2-wire half duplex applications (RS-485) the MDW-45 can automatically control the state of the data bus based just on the data it receives.
This allows the unit to be used with equipment that has no handshaking signal or master system on the bus.
The MDW-45 is available in both a LV (10-60Vdc) and HV (110-250Vac) versions.
Designed for mounting on 35mm DIN-rail the device offers full termination and is failsafe switch selectable.
