RS485 products now handle high voltages
Enhanced repeater/isolators and converters are launched for RS485 applications: a bus technique that is the basis for most of the industrial communications systems installed over the last 20 years
Aimed primarily at OEMs, system integrators and end users of industrial data communications, the well received events featured a series of technology and application presentations as well as hands on training and practical demonstrations.
"The conferences were extremely successful, underlining both the interest in new industrial networking technologies and our own strength in the UK market.
The events highlighted our unrivalled knowledge, support and training capabilities ", said Alan Bollard, MD of Westermo UK.
Three in-depth technical presentations, all given by members of the Westermo UK team, addressed the topics of GSM/GPRS, Industrial Ethernet and Wireless Ethernet individually.
The emphasis was on explaining the technologies, describing suitable applications and pointing out any potential pitfalls.
In parallel with the presentations were hands on training sessions, run by members of the Westermo Technical and training departments, for GSM/GPRS modems and serial to Ethernet converters.
Participants were specifically given experience of setting fixed IP addresses and establishing connections to serial devices over Ethernet and GPRS.
In addition to the presentations and training there were also live working demonstrations of remote PLC communications, Profibus connectivity, Ethernet timeserving, redundant-ring Ethernet, radio telemetry and industrial modems.
The feedback from all the events was excellent, with comments like.
"(The sessions were) well presented, very informative, clear and concise", from Michael Hanrahan of the National Grid.
"(The event) dispersed the myths and misconceptions!" offered Wayne Corp of Omron.
The presentations and notes used at the event can now be downloaded from the Westermo Website.
