Analyser measures nylon content of
plastic film

The new Wilks InfraCal Filtometer, a portable infrared analyser, provides a safe, easy and accurate method for measuring the gravimetric nylon layer content in plastic films, in under one minute

Wilks Enterprise is pleased to announce the availability of a portable infrared analyser - the InfraCal Filtometer, Model CH-2, for direct thickness measurements of the nylon layer in plastic films as low as 0.01mil The complete analysis takes less than one minute, eliminates the use of potentially hazardous solvents, and the resulting measurement data correlates directly to gravimetric values

The InfraCal Filtometer is a fixed filter infrared analyser with a 3333 cm-1 filter/detector.

This wavelength is unique to nylon which enables the nylon to be measured without removing the plastic layer.

A sample of the film is put into a standard card holder and placed into the analyser.

With the infrared source on one side and the filter/detector on the other side, the infrared absorbance is measured by transmission.

These absorbance values will correlate directly to the gravimetric values which is a widely used method for this measurement.

The complete analysis takes under a minute and eliminates the use of potentially hazardous solvents.

The InfraCal Filtometer is rugged, compact (6.5 x 6.5 x 5 inches), weighs less than 5 lbs, and requires just 12 volts of dc power - making it ideal for use in the manufacturing area or in the QC laboratory.

User friendly operation is easy for production personnel to use, with minimal training.
