Plymouth Hospitals replace energy guzzling pumps

Wilo UK wins a prestigious Pump Industry Award, with a project to replace a number of elderly, energy guzzling pumps at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, saving the NHS Hospitals around GBP75k so far

This year's Gala Pump Industry Dinner and Awards Presentation was held at the Royal Court Hotel, in Coventry.

Wilo won the Environmental/Energy Saving Award category from a short list of five companies vying for the title for 2007, with an entry relating to a project to replace a number of elderly, energy guzzling pumps at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with the new Wilo energy efficient pumps, which to date have already saved the Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust around GBP75,000 a year on their electricity bill, with the potential to save even more as the on-going programme to replace existing pumps continues.

Wilo UK Managing Director Stuart Herritty said winning the award was great news but it meant more than just winning an award: "For us, this award is proof that the relationships we are building across the country work in every way - from a business point of view and from an energy saving perspective as well.

Our partners in this project, the NHS Trust and BSS, whose Plymouth branch has been instrumental in securing the contract and supplying all the new equipment, are as pleased as we are to win this award and whilst it's a little bit 'like the Oscars', wanting to thank everyone, this award really is for everyone in the project team, not just ourselves".
