Users of LPG burners in the chemical and petro-chemical industries who fit Witt type 85-30 Flashback Arrestors are likely to have protection against hazardous flashbacks

Safety in the petro-chemical and chemical industries is paramount and LPG receivers have to be inspected annually During this inspection, the burning of any residual LPG can result in a flashback and a subsequent explosion at the receiver

This explosion can be caused when the excess LPG flows at a high rate through a conduction to the burner.

A Witt 85-30 Flashback arrestor is able to function with high flow rates and pressures of 100m3/hr - 8 bar allowing rapid emptying of the receiver.

The main safety features of the Witt 85-30 Flashback arrestor are:.

1) a large surface stainless steel flame arrestor to extinguish any flashback entering the arrestor from any direction.

2) a temperature sensitive cut-off valve that extinguishes any flashback before the arrestor internal temperature reaches a dangerous level.

3) the spring loaded return valve prevents any slow or sudden back flow of gas and the formation of explosive mixtures, whilst a filter at the gas inlet protects the device against dirt contamination.

The devices are generally used to protect single gas cylinders on high use applications such as gas cutting equipment and pipeline outlet points and can be used with acetylene, butane, natural and town gas, methane, oxygen and hydrogen.

Witt Flashback arrestors can be mounted in any orientation and only one piece of equipment should be attached to any one Flashback arrestor.

All Witt Flashback arrestors are individually tested and meet ISO 9001:2000 as well as ISO 14001 and are CE marked to PED 97/23/EG.
