ATEX intrinsically safe torches
Originally launched in 1987, the Wolf Safety 'Intrinsically Safe' Torches with their unique variable beam adjustment, now comply with the 94/9/EC ATEX Equipment Directive
After July 2003, existing customers may continue to purchase the four familiar models designed for a broad spectrum of activities in potentially explosive atmospheres, with the assurance that CE marking complies also with the Workplace Directive Reclassified and re-marked accordingly, these safety torches are now permitted for use in Group II (Surface) applications, Zones 1 and 2 Hazardous Areas, IIA/IIB gas sub-groups, where T4 temperature class permits

Along with the new T4 and T6 right angle torches, an integral part of the Wolf Safety new ATEX portable lighting range launched last September, the two cell 2DCRA and three cell 3DCRA models are the only other right angle safety torches to have received ATEX approval to date.
Re-testing has also confirmed that all major carbon zinc or zinc chloride 'D' size cells have been approved for blanket use.
However, as before, use of alkaline or rechargeable cells is strictly prohibited.
The Explosion-protected construction of these intrinsically safe torches, consists of two separate enclosures, one lockable 'increased safety' containing the internal rotating switch and bulb, and the other 'intrinsically safe' unlocked for the dry batteries.
In accordance with essential Health and Safety requirements of the ATEX Equipment Directive, every Torch comes complete with a comprehensive operation and maintenance instruction leaflet, printed in eleven languages, with clear sequential illustrations, and also including the necessary EC Declaration of Conformity.
Now in common use in over 50 countries throughout the world, the Wolf Safety range of intrinsically safe torches is widely used in fire fighting, as breathing apparatus torches, or gas distribution and water treatment applications, and wherever else explosive gas and vapours might accumulate in confined spaces.
