New ATEX compliant lighting range from Wolf Safety
Wolf Safety, the UK market leader in portable explosion-proof safety lighting equipment, has developed a new ATEX Portable Lighting range to meet the challenging demands of the ATEX 94/9/EC Directive
Wolf ATEX Turbolites, together with accessories, represent the chief requirement for the plant, which is sited on one of the World's largest oil and gas condensate fields, covering an area of several hundred square kilometres and holds an estimated 1,200 million tonnes of oil and 1.35 trillion cubic metres of gas.
The new aluminium super-strong and lightweight Turbolites were launched just over a year ago as the only compressed-air powered turbo-generator safety lamp to achieve certification according to the new Explosive Atmospheres 94/9/EC ATEX [Equipment] Directive, and is CE marked for safe use in Zones 1 and 2 Hazardous Areas - the only such unit available in the European Community.
Flood and bay versions use the same 24 Volt 250 Watt tungsten halogen bulb of 6000 or 9000 lumens for long and short life outputs respectively, providing ample lighting for the largest storage tanks, pressure vessels and other enclosures.
As a condition of certification, the Turbolite Lamps have to be supplied with clean dry filtered air supply through a hose made of antistatic rubber compound.
The generator and rotor design was developed by the University of Sheffield, Electrical Machines Research Group.
