Control systems at Singapore
petrochemical complex
Yokogawa Systems and Engineering subsidiaries have received a package order from Shell Eastern Petroleum to supply control systems for their Petrochemicals Complex (SEPC) in Singapore
At the SEPC, which is on Singapore's Jurong and Bukom islands, SEPL is constructing a new petrochemical plant that will annually produce 800 thousand tons of ethylene and 750 thousand tons of mono-ethylene glycol and upgrading an existing petroleum refinery with a refining capacity of 500 thousand bpd The new plant will be fully integrated with the existing refinery and the integrated complex is scheduled to start operation in 2009 or 2010

Yokogawa plans to deliver the control systems using the latest Foundation fieldbus technology for these upgrade and expansion projects by December 2008.
The delivered systems will include the Centum CS 3000 R3 integrated production control system, ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system, and Exaquantum plant information management system (PIMS).
The Company will also deliver DPharp EJX pressure transmitters/differential pressure transmitters.
Teruyoshi Minaki, Executive Vice President of the Yokogawa International Business Headquarters, said, "We were awarded the contract as Main Automation Contractor because we have the ability to improve the operability and safety of large-scale plants by integrating their production control and safety instrumented systems.
In addition, Shell values our ability to propose solutions from the user's perspective, and our worldwide maintenance service system.
Through our implementation of these control systems for the SEPC, we will strengthen our relationship with Shell.
We aim to increase our orders by proposing solutions to users".
