The new DPharp EJX Series pressure transmitters from Yokogawa meet all the latest process industry safety standards, plus offer an unparalleled response time of 95msecs

The new DPharp EJX Series of differential pressure and pressure transmitters from Yokogawa UK combine new sensing techniques to ensure high accuracy and stability with built-in safety features that meet the requirements of the latest process industry safety standards The DPharp EJX Series employs an advanced MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) based silicon-resonant sensor that provides a standard accuracy of +/-0.04 percent (optional reference accuracy of +/-0.025 percent) and a 0.1 percent 10-year stability guarantee

The new sensor design also provides superior overpressure protection and minimises the effect of temperature and static pressure changes.

A concept known as Total Accuracy provides a comprehensive performance evaluation benchmark by incorporating the conditions of the actual working environment such as ambient temperature, static pressure and overpressure that all affect measurement accuracy.

The unparalleled response time of 95 ms for a microprocessor based transmitter allows the EJX to be considered for applications, such as compressor control, which involve rapidly-changing pressures.

Models are available for differential pressure (EJX110A), gauge pressure (EJX430A) and absolute pressure (EJX310A).

The design of the DPharp sensor allows both differential pressure and static pressure to be transmitted from one EJX110A transmitter.

This unique design will also allow Yokogawa to offer enhanced DP level (strapping tables) and DP flow (RTD input and mass flow calculations) solutions in the very near future.

The DPharp EJX is the first pressure transmitter series to be delivered as standard with TUV approval, compliant with IEC61508 and with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 of the new process industry safety standard IEC61511.

Data can be monitored via 4-20 mA and digital communications such as HART, BRAIN and Foundation Fieldbus (Spring 2004) protocols and displayed on a built-in multi-function LCD indicator which incorporates a bargraph and digital readout that clearly displays the most important pressure variables.

Diagnostic functions with clear text messages help to validate process information easily and precisely.

'The ability of these new products to deliver cost-efficient ultra-high performance promises to radically alter the competitive landscape in this sector', comments Simon Hatch, Product Manager for Transmitters and Flow Technologies with Yokogawa UK Ltd.

'Differential pressure and pressure transmitters are the largest market sector for sensors used in the process industries, and Yokogawa believes that this new range will significantly boost its already strong share of this market'.
