Alflow determines flow properties of polymers

Zwick Roell has introduced a high-performance extrusion plastometer to its Xflow series, enabling manufacturers to determine the flow properties of polymers and plastics.

Like all Zwick's extrusion plastometers, the Aflow instrument delivers rapid determination of melt-index values.

The full Xflow series now includes: Aflow for 24-hour, high-throughput operation featuring automatic test sequences; Mflow for mid-level throughput and faster, more convenient determination of melt flow rate (MFR) and melt volume rate (MVR) in quality-assurance and goods-inwards checks; and Cflow for cost-effective, standalone, low-throughput manual testing.

The Aflow extrusion plastometer offers defined, adjustable pre-compacting of the test material.

Its automatic parameter control (APC) optimises test parameters for maximum measuring accuracy and also has an integral cleaning function.

All common worldwide standards, including ISO 1133 and ASTM D 1238, are supported.

Zwick's Xflow extrusion plastometers address the problems created by manual weight loading in traditional instruments.

While the Mflow benefits from a modular system that employs an auxiliary unit to provide program-controlled weight positioning and removal, the Aflow avoids traditional weights altogether, replacing them with cutting-edge force management.

This system automatically controls stepless adjustment of test loads up to 50kg, eliminating operator influence and making melt-index determination faster and more reliable.
